Commuting from afternoon to the following morning can be such a different experience. I wore my coolest jersey because going into work was near 95 degrees. This morning going home it was lite fog, chilly ane my glasses were fogging up from the humidity. My summer weight jersey with the side vents was a little uncomfortable, since I only brought arm warmers..
Only unique experience going home- I saw in my mirror what appeared a yonger person trying to pass me on my steepest hill. Somehow, the sight of a 'kid' on a mountain bike on asphalt gets your blood pumping in a spot 'reserved' for roadies.
Well, my eyes lied to me. It was not a kid. It was an off-duty marine trying to keep up with me... got to top of hill, the marine and I had a nice conversation. Wants to get into biking. Does so much running/basketball, wants to add something different to his regime.. So he congratulated me for getting his adrenelin up to keep up with me..Went up the hill about 10 mph, & me in my tired state...... First ride ever, that he had more than a couple blocks away from home. Said his wife likes bikes and wonders what equiptment he needs to really get into it. Wants to ride with our Tuesday/ Thursday group.. He loved the experience and the cycling world grew by one more this morning..
