Ahhh, considering the weather you guys are facing(I'm in New Orleans-suburb 4 miles west actually), guess I won't get any sympathy about how I'm having to bundle up before my ride today. It is 40 degrees windy and overcast-bitter conditions for us- but I guess you folks-Midwest,NE,E Coast-would find that downright balmy.
Ebay, I used to sell all the time, but had a couple of negative experiences(one my fault, one was maybe the other guys), and Ebay and Paypal have raised their fees so much that it doesn't pay to sell inexpensive items(under $40 items). Now I still buy on ebay-all sorts of cheapish stuff-nice to get stuff at a slight discount and it is delivered to your door.
I have bought 3 bikes in the last 5 months-Schwinn Traveler($110 delivered-sold $160),Trek 820($125 delivered-sold $150), and a Trek 730(paid $112-will sell for maybe $140).Obviously I do it for fun, since I spend maybe 3 hours spiffing them up, new cables etc. Maybe I average a net of $30/bike, so it is just for fun.I keep them a few months ride them, them sell them. FUN HOBBY- I love bikes and like to meet folks and sell them nice bikes.I stick to Chromo framed bikes, since folks like to buy steel.I don't really think steel is a better frame material than aluminum, but many folks prefer steel, so I buy steel. I do prefer the look of steel-thinner tubes make for better lines and prettier bikes.Yes, steel looks better to my eye, but light-aluminum- is nice also.
