Rode the Mudslinger

I've raced once before a few years ago, but this was my first race of hopefully a full season this year. It was an amazing experience with a well respected race in the area. I entered in the Men's Open Beginner class and got 2nd place. So I did a little better than I expected I'd do, but there was a lot of steep climbing and that's what I do best. Still not ready for the Sport division, though... Our lap was only 14 miles and 2000 ft. of elevation gain, while the sport/elite division raced 37 miles and 5000 ft. of elevation gain. I felt my lungs burning half way up the hill, and after the race I had a deep congestion built up in my lungs from over exertion. Anyways, I'm looking forward to more races this year, and hope to get in a little better shape soon so they don't kill me as bad as this one did. I completely recommend entering races for a very rewarding challenge and a good time all around.
