Once again, things I wish I had known before. My aunt introduced me to a neighbor of hers because we were both about to start college at the same school. She was a beauty pageant contestant and a former cheerleader, planning to pledge a major sorority on campus, and otherwise a wholesome Christian girl to take home to Mom and Dad. I was a band nerd about to major in music education. I figured she was way out of my league and was just willing to be my friend, and I didn't pick up on any signs of the contrary... until I told her about this girl I met, then the frown on her face and her proceeding scarcity after that told me all I needed to know.
Same old story. I can't tell you how many times I had that "Oh" moment with a girl I thought was just a friend. Most of them were out of my league, but the charity of women never ceases to amaze me.
