I use suspenders cuz I wear non cycling specific snow pants and gortex rain pants for commuting this time of year. however I need to adjust them. the other day my legs were a little exposed over my boots and I had to slide the legs down a little. the suspenders follow the trousers meaning 1st my base layer and maybe a fleece shirt, where both get tucked into the trouser. the fleece vest goes over the suspenders and the jacket over everything - so no one ever sees the suspenders. the trousers are loose in the waist and do not bind.
