I only hit 30 km/h on the flats if I've got a really good tailwind. My usual speed is somewhere between 15 and 20 km/h.

My descent crash was at the bottom of a steep, curvy hill on a rainy day. There had been construction traffic on the hill and the light rain had turned the dust and dirt into a slippery layer of white mud. Right at the bottom of the hill was a 4-way stop. The two riders ahead of me went through, but as I got close, cars pulled up to the stop sign from all directions ....... and I tried to stop. I did successfully stop, but had to be carried off the road.
