Cool tech, but... doesn't that run into legal issues with the weight? If pros already have to weigh down their bikes to make them UCI legal for racing, I don't really see the benefit of shooting for lighter and lighter these days. Anyone care to explain the purpose.
And I'll try to beat the rest of BF to it. Yes its crazy expensive, but its also handmade by highly skilled pros, which is why its crazy expensive.

I don't know their reasoning for sure but a lighter frame allows them to decide where they want to put the weight that brings them up to the legal limit on the bike. I think of it like how Formula 1 designs their cars. They also have a minimum weight, but the chassis itself is well below the minimum weight. They ballast the cars up to the minimum weight with tungsten ingots placed very low in the car, to lower the center of gravity. There's always the marketing aspect though too. Being able to say, we have the lightest bike, etc. All speculation though.
I'd love to know what kind of processing they used, and how they changed the design to lower the weight so drastically though.
