I've been using a set of (machine built) CXP22 laced to some low end Shimano hubs on my SingleSpeed for two years now. Last year I put some 1000 commuter miles on em, mostly up and down a crappy (hasn't been paved in 30 years, basically abandoned) country road. I've yet to lay a spoke wrench on those rims. And I'm a Stud Muffinish 230 lbs.

Now if your friend in careening into deep potholes at 20+ mph, well, I'd like to hear of any rim that can really stand up to that abuse.
