2 years ago I joined some folks for a Blue Ridge Parkway tour using a 7 speed Nashbar Mega range 13-32. The jump on the up shift from 32 to 24 was too abrupt. Try to visualize yourself climbing a gradual grade in your middle chain ring in your bottom 32 or 34 tooth cog. The grade starts to lessen as you approach the top and you want to shift up slightly and your only choice is one step up to a 24! Or you fumble around looking for an even step up using your granny chain ring. I replaced it with the evenly spaced IRD 13-32 freewheel. It's jump from 32-28 is more agreeable. I have a freewheel threaded Phil Wood hub that's not ready to replace so I don't have the option of the more numerous choices you get with cassettes.
