I agree with this sentiment.

Spending $1500 on last year's model can get you a lot of bike...if I would have waited, I could have gotten an S1 with full Ultegra, at the end of the year, for just a tad more than that. That's a nice bike, especially for the price. But I didn't have a bike (frame failure), didn't know it'd be around, and I do really like the Bianchi I got instead.

Going new gets you something you know the provenance of, with a warranty and shop support. Mine gives me free adjustments for a year, which I think is pretty typical.

When it's time for a new bike down the road, I will be doing some end-of-season shopping.
