I didn't say it was about the "does he or doesn't he", I'm just saying it adds to the mix. Sure, he asks why the public is not as quick to jump all over Lance, but then the whole thing goes back to the problem about the drugs. It looks to me like the author already made up his mind as to if Lance took drugs, then spends his time asking us why we can't believe it too, since we can believe it about other athletes.
That's my take on things.
