Yeah, in cycling, steroids are very last decade. That's what's funny to me about the new MLB policy that just covers, as far as I know, anabolic steroids. It ignores every other performance enhancer out there, and there are tons. I'm not expecting ballplayers to start using EPO to help their endurance, but if MLB thinks that they've taken any step towards a clean sport, they're kidding themselves. Of course Armstrong hasn't used 'roids; why the hell would he? Steroids are for the plebes of baseball, not the pinnacle of it or any other sport. Look at the poor guy that got busted for 'roids in MLB. Who was he again? Some benchwarmer that'll sit in the minors and not be missed? Yep. MLB will never catch the likes of Bonds with their policy. He's not going to take anything that their testing can find.

The logic holds for LA, and that's why I don't rule out the possiblity of him doping. He, and many others at or near the top of the sport, can afford better than straight up EPO or shoddy transfusions (Tyler, c'mon, pay for something better next time). If he's doping, we'll find out from his memoirs. Nonetheless, the power of the human will is pretty incredible, especially when it's been tested. I think nearly dying trumps doping, personally, though I hope to never be in a position to compare the two.
