I guess the easiest way to put it is lots of good friends, family, an amazing / understanding wife, motivating myself with setting small goals and then getting the reward.
The most important thing was eating right and keeping track of my calories. I would definitely keep track of what you eat, it's so powerful to look at an excel spreadsheet or note book of what you've eaten that day, it really curbs your appetite to have the hard evidence in front of you.
Do something that you enjoy, I love going for rides, there has been days where I could gladly throw my bike off a cliff because it was hot, I felt bad, etc... However, there was never once (ever) that I came back from a ride, and I didn't feel way better!
Definitely don't fall for quick results like the ads you see on TV, it takes discipline and a change of life (if you want a new you, you have to start as a new you).
Get people behind you that truly care about you and want to see you succeed, I am so blessed to have the family and friends that I do, I had one friend that immediately after work every day would be at my house waiting with his bike, and we would go and ride about 10 miles together, I would love him some days, and want to kill him others, but I truly thank him for being an inspiration to me and willing to help me out and push me when I needed it, always wanting to go a little further, etc...
There are people here that are doing the same thing, and others that have lost way more, but I would bet that they are all willing to offer some advise and words of encouragment, all you need to do is ask.
Just remember that you will have your ups and downs, but look for the future for your goal, because you make a mistake and overdo the calories one day, doesn't mean you've blown your week, just get back on track and stay there (like I said, if you want a new you, you need to be a new you).
Additionally, I'm here anytime, and please feel free to email me if you have any questions or needs some ecouragement.
Edit: I forgot to mention, don't let the scale control you, weigh once a week, that's it, you're weight will fluctuate so much day to day it's insane.
Pick a day (preferably a weekend) and first thing in the morning after your uhm... "morning routine" strip to your birthday suit, and hop on the scale, then keep track of that number, write it down with your meals for the day or in a journal.
Also as far as goals, you don't need to go extreme, I had my one big goal (road bike) and I finally got it since I lost over 100 lbs. Set yourself achievable goals, go in 5-10 lb increments if you can (i.e. if I lose 5 lbs in the next 2 weeks I'm going to go get myself that CD I've wanted for awhile, or some thing you want that you normally wouldn't get. it's a reward for a job well done, and you sure as heck have deserved it, but it also helps to look back at your rewards and realize how far you've come and you can be reassured you will make it the rest of the way!)
