The generalization in your post is pretty ignorant, especially since the guy you quoted is from California as well. Coming from a moderator, this is really disappointing. The guy just wants help.

Different types of cycling shoes do fit differently. I've only ever worn Specialized and Sidi shoes, and the former has more room in the toe box while that latter is narrower.
