TMar has a good data base but I don't think there was alot of rhyme and reason in the serial numbers. I think whoever posted the catalogs online was only interested in the upper end models.
I'll try and scan the applicaple pages from the '84. the limited was always an upper end model of the beginner racers. once Bianchi (USA) firmly settled on Shimano 600 it was a great all around road bike and eventually as the Virata was the top model with sometimes only 1 Italian bike above it.
