Not a bad idea, but all bike mechanics are not equal. We're not trying to worry you about wheels, just trying to make you aware of the possibilities.
Like AJ said, no problems with his low spoke count wheels. I used to carry spokes, too, until I found a guy who knew what he was doing with wheels. The builder is the key.
I would say just ride your bike and keep an eye on the wheels
