Good luck. Sometimes it seems life is just piling on.

I thought I was having a heart attack some years ago. Lot's of things were were demanding to be first in my life all at once. I'm lying there on a gurney in the ER and my BP was sky high. Like 320/220 and I'm not far off there. Thought I was going to blow a gasket. So I lay there watching the EKG and BP readings and think "Sh1t! I gotta relax!" and so I consciously start relaxing my muscles and concentrating on slow deep breaths and those numbers start coming down.

The doc does a blood test and comes in with the good news that no, I'm not having a heart attack and yes my BP was pretty high but I probably won't have a stroke. "Let me ask you some questions about your life" he says. How's work, marriage, life, etc. All pretty brutal at that point. "I think I've put my finger on your problem" he says. He suggests I get with my physician and get on some personality modifying medication. Go from a type A+++ to maybe an easy B thanks to the miracles of chemistry. I thank him for his advice.

Long story short I do get my BP medicated. As for the other stuff I decided the only thing to do was to not let it bother me. If I can't influence it or control it with a reasonable effort it didn't matter. I re-committed riding on a regular basis as therapy both mental and physical ( I was riding a fair amount but it could get shelved when other "more important" things came up) and made it a first priority. Things got a lot better after I readjusted my priorities and quit taking some things so seriously. My home life improved and my work became interesting again.

There are always other jobs. The family is important but to take care of them you have to take care of yourself. Just be extra careful on the bike.
