Really, I have the same issue, and I thought about that, but aren't you better off just having the bike compeletly centered on the roller? Makes for a more sturdy platform, no? Plus, my bike has been on my trainer for about 3 months now. I loosen the roller so it doesn't hit the wheel and turn the front tire slighly in the KK riser ring (I'm sure it doesn't matter, but makes me feel better) and walk away. When I come back I tighten the wheel, climb aboard, and hate life.
Well, I think the part that clamps on to the skewers/bolts is what carries all the weight. The roller only has as much pressure on it as you apply, so I don't believe it makes too much of a difference where on the roller you place the wheel.
