The cop tried to tase the guy, too. I.e., he was using "less-lethal" force in the situation.

If he's allowed to do that, I suppose hitting people with your car could also be considered "less-lethal" (than, say, a firearm) as well.

No one seems to have issues with the tasering, beyond the fact that he was trying to do it while suspect was still in motion. If that's the case, I see no issue in running someone down to stop them.
