Seriously someone is selling that for 1k? Are you sure the bike is not stolen and this isn't a scam?
As for being "too much". Your money buy whatever you want. Only thing to consider is that as a new rider you don't really know what bike/geometry you will like, and you don't really get a feel for it until you have been riding for some time.
