Honjo, Berthoud and Velo-Orange metal fenders are longer. The rear fender typically drops deeper on the tire than a plastic full fender. The front fender has a deeper rear drop so you can use a shorter mudflap, and the leading edge often extends below the horizontal tangent to the tire, directing forward spray downward where it belongs instead of allowing it to fly up and soak your handlebar bag (or legs) as you ride through it.
