A few people have asked me if Arvon is still making frames and the answer is yes... at 75 he does not show any sign of slowing down and could still tear all our legs off on a ride while riding his own custom long tail.

He stops by my shop about once a week now as he is handling all the little frame repair jobs I get or have and he left me this old demo bike so I could take some pictures and make Clif crazy.

He is an amazing guy to talk to... was a founding member of our local randonneurs, has a shop that is chock full of to die for goodies (I will be heading out there in a few weeks), and quite simply... a genius when it comes to fabrication.

He is an ex professional racer who competed in the 50's and 60's, still rides a fixed gear, likes nothing better than going out for an brisk 100 km ride, and is a freaking monster at six foot 3 and what he says is 270 pounds... his doctor is tracking his health as at 75 he is as healthy as a man can be .

And he has been building custom frames and hubs for 30 years... if he had to he could build a bicycle from scratch.

He is also evil as he showed me a long tail he just finished that has been powder coated a copper orange, is fitted with an Ultegra group, and is my size at 54 - 55 cm.

I am really hoping we get to work together a good deal this summer... cause he is also a really nice human being.
