I liked this thread and thought we might revive it now that the weather is decent. Today we had 35 mph winds, gusting higher sometimes, and I was doing about 100 rpm with a 52-11 (559 size rear). I don't have a speedometer, but I sure did smoke my nine year old daughter and her Walmar* special. I suppose I can look it up with an on-line gear inch calculator. Anyway it was all fun until I had to turn around and come back. I stopped on the crest of a hill so I could see traffic both ways. Unfortunately that's also where the wind was the strongest. If it was head-on I could've managed, but it was angled and kept blowing me into the ditch (no thanks to the fairing). By the time I had it figured out, my daughter had caught up to me and was laughing at the spectacle.
