$500 is a pretty steep difference for two comparable bikes, but if it keeps you riding the bike, it will be worth it. FWIW, I would choose the Cannondale for all of the aforementioned reasons and the fact that you could always get a paint job. When you are on the bike, its looks don't usually matter too much
