Killing yourself the day before a race isn't so bad after all, eh? To alleviate the quad pain try stretching, a decent warmup/warmdown (up to an hour of flat for crits), and plenty of fluids.
And you need to adjust your bedtime: 10pm is waaaaaaaaay to late for a young kipper like you to be going to bed before a race. Try 8:30 or 9:00.

8.30/9.00 sheeeesh, I'd be awake at 3am. I meant to be in bed by 9.30 for a 5.15 getup but I got involved and lost track

I didn't sleep well either, not sure why. bummer.
I should probably set the w/trainer up and spin for an hour but the other half would freek as we're expecting the grandkids up tomorrow and she'd be dark if I 'messed the place up'. Could do it on the verandah though. mmmmmmmm 9.15, got to be in bed by 9.30 I'll do it in the morning.
