Wrong way joggers/runners/pedestrians - Should *we* move left?
I have a bit of a problem with wrong way runners on the Boston roadways. My general feeling is that if they want to run in the road against traffic, *they* should be the one to move out into traffic when we pass head-on. I generally stay way right and leave them to decide whether they want to move up on the sidewalk or left into traffic. It especially pisses me off when runners on Beacon Street in Brookline somehow think that the dedicated Bike lane is their wrong-way running lane.
On a related subject, I'm utterly amazed how many pedestrians on a snowy day would rather take their lives in their hands walking in the road, rather than invest in a nice pair of boots and walk on the sidewalk.
<edit> OTOH, am I oblivious to some law giving pedestrians equal access to use the roadway in any direction they please? That would make us a second class version of the ignorant "Get up on the sidewalk!" automobile crowd, I guess?
