When visiting Poland a couple of years ago, I went around the bike shops checking out the stock and prices. I mostly looked at components, though, rather than whole bikes. I found that the prices were about twice as high for the same components as in the US. In fact, I might not be able to afford such prices in the US, with the US income. The obvious conclusion is that the specific components are directed towards a much narrower segment of the public than in the US. Others there likely need to get by with components of quality that normally does not show up in the US, except maybe on the department-store bikes.
