There's the question of being in adequate shape, which if you aren't now, you can be over time. Then there's the question of how much time do you want to spend commuting.
There's no way I'd want to spend that much time getting too and from work. Actually, I wouldn't even want to drive that distance so I'm probably not the best person to ask.

Public transportation is a more reasonable option in my mind because I can use the time in transit for something else. That's not really possible when driving or cycling.
