I was wondering if any body knew about the parts compatability with this frame and modern components like shimano free-hubs and the like. Also is this frame of good enough quality that I could build a good bike out of it, or should I be exploring other options?

If you are thinking I sound like a newb that is because I can. But Im a college kid and am unable to partake in my favorite hobby of shooting sports and am looking for a new passtime. I was wanting to rebuild this bike both for sentimental reasons and as a learning experience.

So what do you guys thinnk? should I go for it and have fun? Or should I find some old Trek bike that is still serviceable to ride around on?
How heavy is this bike?
