Thanks for the thoughtful advice. When I first wrote this thread I was concerned that Communist contries had special sized tools for repairing bikes. I looked on Romanian Craiglist and saw ONE bike for sale. In the whole contry! So I am looking into taking my hybrid Huffy with me to Bucharest and then sell it after my trip. Right now I am reading Bicycle Magazine's guide to touring and taking a class on bike repair. Thanks for your input.
