By now I'm sure most of you have seen the Smurf Trek that appeared in the C&V valuations thread. For those who haven't heres the link

I, w/ the help of my Florida connection (MiamiJim, Thanks Jim!) have taken possession of the smurf and have begun the process of giving it a respectable makeover. Here are some pics.
There are a few issues, but I'm working through them

. I have "new" front brakes coming soon that have long enough reach for the 700c wheels. I disassembled the front wheel to strip the paint off of everything and am now learning how to build a wheel....

. Lastly, I'm trying to figure out how to set up indexed shifting (I cheat and switch to friction and have no issues) I haven't figured out what color bar wrap to go with.... any suggestions? The dia compe gran compe levers are finding a new home and are being replaced w/ SLR levers (to work w/ the new brakes) and the new levers have black hoods. Anyway, it's cleaning up well and rides amazing!

Tomorrow I'll be going for a ride w/ my new rollers.... very excited!
Let me know what you guys think! She's slowly becoming a respectable bike again.
