I managed to break my F55's left chainstay last year after 4 years of heavy riding. I'd been hearing a faint creaking noise on a ride, and it got much worse when I was descending down a 40-mph left turn ahead of some 55-mph traffic. I was pretty shocked (and relieved) when I got home and noticed this: )
The good news is, there's nothing wrong with your derailleur or shifter. haha
And when I called about possibly getting a discount on a replacement frame, the Felt guy started giving me a bunch of guff. (And by "guff" I mean that he told me to simply return it to my LBS and they'd replace it for
free!-haha.)
It was completely unexpected. I figured after four years of carting my 180-195lb butt over some nasty roads, any warranty was expired. Felt apparently learned from this, because the replacement frame came with slightly stouter chainstays which were rectangular rather than oval.

I ride a 63cm frame and compared with my other bikes, it's so comfy, but stiff when I'm mashing uphills.
About my only possibly legitimate beef is the asphalt-camouflage (aka flat black) paint. It doesn't exactly turn heads, but I still love it, love it!
