The first time I rode up Sugarloaf I did it in a 42-19 gear on a heavy steel bike after riding from Gainesville (about 90 miles) during an intense heat wave. It was humid as hell and the temps were near 100 F.

It wasn't that hard.

Of course I was about 25 years younger then.
