Is it really weird? nayr497 is 5"7.5 and rides a small and those 2.5 inches are not insignificant, I think. I really couldn't ride the S, it was just too tall for me. I think the reason is that my inseam is very short - only about 28.5cm. My upper body was ok on it. My sense also is that you can do some more adjusting on a bike that is smaller, but not a whole lot if it is too big.
