That Merlin has pressed in BB bearings. The bearings are pressed in and there where at least 2 different sizes used through the years. As far as I know you are stuck with using a square taper crank. May have to use a vintage 8 speed crank with 10 speed chainrings. You have a limited number of crank/transmissions options.

Maybe someone else has come across this same problem and had different results.
