I am very sure it is emanating from the point at which the cranks connect to the bracket, or the bracket itself. I even tried standing on the crank arms without touching the pedals, and it still creaks so I don't think its the pedals. I can even sort of "feel" the creak, if you know what I mean, in the crank arms, as they shift very minutely.
