This speculation is a waste of time. Here's what you do
1) Pull cranks off, remove clean and regrease chainring bolts and torque up to spec
2) Remove BB, clean, regrease and retorque to spec
3) Grease crank bolt - threads and underneath the head of the bolt (or not) and reinstall.
4) Remove pedals, regrease and reinstall
Let's assume the creak isn't because the BB is worn out - check this before you pull the cranks (test for play) and after (spin bb and note condition of bearings - does it spin smooth? Rough?).
If you want to comprehensively solve this issue, this is what you do.
This is what I would suggest. Do this and you've covered a lot of ground AND done probably needed maintenance in the process. A lot of times the noise is simple the bottom bracket threads creaking.
