Get a Blackberry. iPhones are crap for this sort of stuff (I have both).
I am in a similar situation as you- run my own business and answer all customer emails personally.. anywhere from 10-35 a day, depending on how things are looking and most of them require detailed, personalized responses. The BB lets me get all the short replies out of the way immediately.
