Exactly. I am surprised now that I see the photo that there was any surprise here as well as no time to check traffic conditions behind, even with a head turn look back. The intersection can be seen long in advance as can any other vehicle driving towards it. Even more so I suggest the bright flashing headlight, drivers who disregard stopping before entering roadways when making a right turn do glance rightward, usually a few times and a headlight will help a lot by greatly increasing likelihood of being noticed and responded to.
