On long rides, like Centuries and Doubles I use the Cliff Bloks regularly.
The package comes as six conjoined cubes, listed on the label as 2 servings.
I cut them in half and tape the cut end. This gives me neat small packs of 3 cubes/ 1 serving.
After one hour of riding I begin a program of one of my cut down packs every 30 min.
Bite at the tape, pop open, squeeze out into mouth, simple.
Mountain Berry w/ no caffeine early in rides and Black Cherry w/caffeine for late in rides.
The sustained level of energy with no peaks or valleys that I get from this program is great for me.
I also sip from a flask of thickly mixed Hammer Perpetuem late in a ride for the extra boost that gives me.
My philosophy for keeping my cycling weight works for me:
Diet at the desk.
Diet at the dinner table.
Diet in the easy chair at night.
Do not diet on the bike.
