Maxine, nice relay of information. I use Brockbridge frequently, and 175 from Columbia out is a circus also. Going to DC, I probably would go through Savage, but from there I would like to have the directions down to D.C. Or if I need to travel further east, that is OK too. I usually enjoy going into Georgetown, then from there over to Dupont Circle, which is an easy ride.
Fletchh, if you're a member of the Baltimore Bicycling Club, you can get Bob's "Monument to Monument" cue sheet from the club Web site. If not, his route (at least from the Severn area, where I am, to the Mall) is very similar to the Bike Washington route. Here's a link to their cue sheet and maps:
