Last year I spent most of the summer riding season riding laps around the park because i had a lingering hamstring injury that meant i had to avoid hills. If you do park laps often enough and long enough, you start to get a sense of where you fit in in the great hierarchy of bike riders. Trek and Specialized riders I wouldn't even bother to chase. They were just too fast and they tended to do a few laps as warm-ups before heading out of town. The only regular riders that kept me company were the colnago riders and the hybrid riders. With my injury, I could not guarantee that I could keep up with the hybrid riders but the colnago riders were fair game. I reeled in some beautiful colnagos by lap 4 or 5.
