My latest purchase - sweet Davidson bike
I probably don't need much confirmation, but with these hand-made bikes it seems so tough to know - I just paid $550 for this - feel free to confirm I am not a sucker. It is giant, but I purchased it for a friend who it should fit just fine - he has trouble finding bigger bikes for reasonable prices, so I jumped on the opportunity to spend someone else's money. Anyway, this thing is really from a time capsule - the guy I just bought it from had the original receipt ($2361.45 in August 1997) and claimed to have ridden it less than 100 miles due to health issues. I was skeptical, but upon seeing it, it became clear that the seller was being honest - this thing has not been ridden, and was stored in his living room so no rust or anything. I took it for a spin, and it rides and shift so smooth, better than any of my bikes actually.
It has campagnolo veloce brifters, front and rear derailleurs, brakes, cranks, and campagnolo athena headset and seatpost. It has mavic open rims and campagnolo hubs (I assume veloce, but it doesn't say - the receipt shows "veloce group"). MKS "Edge" pedals. He also gave me a 3TTT quill stem that looks brand new - there is a technomic really short stem on there now. There is like one or two paint chips, but of the inevitable sort you get the first time you use a bike. This thing really is awesome. One thing I don't know, though, is what tubeset it uses. It says "ritchey" by the dropouts, and the seattube has an oval shape near the bottom bracket - not sure what it is, but it rides so amazingly and looks so nice I figured it was good enough. If anyone can fill in the details, please do.
Receipt says it's a "Signature - Lugged" model. I really wish I was getting to keep this!
Anyway, here are some photos.
