She will have three bikes; road, climbing, TT, I need to find out the exact models, etc because I know she just got a new bike, although I believe at least one is a TREK.

A lot of people have contacted me asking what the expectations are, so I figure I'll just post it:

Expectations are as follows...
There are several people on the team that have a specific skill set, for instance I'm a physical therapist, we will have an EMT, etc. However at the end of the day we are a TEAM. So that means, even though each person may have some specific duties, we each have to be able to jump into any role, and work together to accomplish the mission. This might include driving, navigating, gopheering, washing, etc.

The RAAM is a race and not a ride, so this adds quite a bigger level of intensity. The racer will be on the saddle for 20 hours a day with very limited rest. Some of the mechanical/problem solving we would encounter will also have to do with bike set up modifications in dealing with saddle sores. This is something I have experience with as I am a bike fitter was well.

Our goal is to have 8 people on the crew going across the country. It's a tough order to fill, but I am faithful it will happen. We will have 2 vehicles. A caravan that will always pace/follow the racer, and an RV that will leapfrog the entire distance. The plan is the have the crew be on 10 hour shifts, so that everyone gets adequate rest to do their job effectively.

I did this in 2008, and it was one of the most intense and rewarding experiences of my life thus far.

Let me know if this still interests you, and what other questions you might have?
