Some people do credit card touring. I'm not sure if they buy clothes each day, or exactly how that works. We definitely would not have had enough to stay somewhere because we would not have had clothes to change into after the ride, or fresh clothes for the next day. I guess you could wash the clothes but you still need something else to wear at the place you are staying.
Most of the time a credit card tourer will carry a large saddlebag or small panniers with a couple sets clothes and wash them (usually in the sink) as needed.
