I have MKS Touring pedals on my commuter (no cleats, no clips/straps, often wrongly called "platform" pedals), and they enable me to do things like wear plastic clogs and wool hiking socks on rainy days. It works surprisingly well. Even when I add time to my rainy-day rides by running errands, my feet remain comfortable.
