There are times when I've felt as if I'm an outsider to my body and have no control over it. I just do as I'm told.
Yes, and Yes - when I'm fully succeeding it looks like this. The big difference? In the past I haven't been able to do it for myself, only when working for a teammate or (in music) when playing a show with a group.
I've had enough years of the lying/negative voices... I'm going to try to only aim for positive ones, but it is pretty much the same thing you were saying.

No big problem - it is my biggest solution as well. With Winning In Mind by Lanny Bassham is the book I've heard referenced most often. I got it a few days ago, started reading it today and it hit me between the eyes... VERY, very good book.

Bonus is that when you've got it, others know it, and they start to worry about you rather than thinking about winning themselves. Goals should always be positive, and when you're thinking about other racers they are, by definition, negative.

I have trouble recalling the last few laps of crits that I win.
Thank you for the thoughts - you'd be one to know. As mentioned above, I'm trying to be only positive in this, and preparing now so that I don't have (won't need to) to think in the moment.
