When my brother told me he wanted a bike to replace his green Magna (and compliment his 1988 Haro Master), I asked "What kind?" He said he wanted one that he wanted "one to ride," by which he meant a bike he could simply get on and ride without any fuss, such as fancy shoes or superhero costumes. So I got him a Giant FCR-2 (since discontinued, but seemingly continued in spirit with the "Rapid" line), and he loves it. For a casual cyclist who simply hops on his or her bike for short shopping trips or weekend rides down the MUP, I don't see a reason to own anything else.
