I usually don't go into work until about 11am, so if I can be up and out by 8AM, I can easily get a 20-30 mile ride + breakfast + shower, with time to spare. I'm not sure what there is to suggest as you already said it yourself: 13mi is better than 0mi.... and it feels much nicer to start off the workday after a good ride, so go for it.
