I apologize if this thread is not in the correct location or if there are a thousand other threads like this. I looked around a bit but I think I need a personal recommendation.

I haven't had a bike (or ridden one) for years now. I used to absolutely love it when I was younger. Every spring and summer for a few years now I've been wishing that I had a bike. With that said, I don't know where to look, what brands to consider or what is a realistic price range. The bike will be used on my city's streets and roads for the most part. I live in a very hilly city/valley so does that mean I should get a mountain bike?

I'd like to keep it under $300 for a nice bike, but I'm not expecting anything too fancy. Any help and/or info is really appreciated! Thanks guys, I'll be sure to keep a close eye on this thread and these forums!
